Student Assistance Program - student assistance counselors in each school are there to promote prevention, help students navigate the adolescent years, and identify and refer students who are having difficulties and require professional help to get through. These counselors are In Franklin County, the following student assistance counselors are available for your child and to answer questions you may have about substance use and other risk behaviors:

Got Three Hours? A School Needs You Who could say no to giving three hours to their child’s school over nine months? That’s what the founders of the parent volunteer program Three for Me reasoned -- and they discovered once parents got a taste of volunteering, they were eager to keep coming back. OVX
Our Voices Exposed (OVX) is Vermont's youth led, youth run movement against tobacco. Like VKAT, we've listed OVX in two places because it is usually a school-based program and it is peer to peer. Visit the OVX website for more information or to download the grant application!

VTLSP
VTLSP stands for Vermont Leadership in Safety Program. Bellows Free Academy (St. Albans), Richford High School, and Missiquoi Valley Union High School (MVU) all have VTLSP chapters. At MVU, VTLSP is now part of a group called The Prevention Group. To visit their site, click here.

 

CARING COMMUNITIES SUPPORTS BOTVIN'S LIFE SKILLS TRAINING
Botvin's Life Skills Training is a research-based prevention curriculum being used at the elementary and middle/junior high school levels. It's proven to reduce or delay the onset of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use by teenagers. LST is being taught in most middle school/junior high grades county-wide. Enosburg Falls Middle/Senior High has just sent a faculty member to Life Skills training, with funding from Caring Communties. LST is being taught in most middle school/junior high grades county-wide.
