Vermont Teen Institute For Participants

What to Expect When I Attend

When you attend Vermont Teen Institute, get ready for an awesome experience! You'll join other participants from your school and other schools across the state. You'll stay at a beautiful camp for one week, from Sunday to Friday, where you'll enjoy delicious food and interact with both staff and other participants. Your days will be filled with active and interesting workshops, where you'll learn important skills and information about topics like substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, wellness & self-care, healthy relationships, and positive psychology. You will be part of a caring community that values acceptance and inclusion.  You'll also meet in small group discussions called family groups, where you'll get to know other participants and share your experiences. You'll participate in lots of fun community building activities, where you'll make cool new friends and build your leadership skills. You will also work with participants from your school to create a plan for how you want to bring your experience back to your school and peers. The week will end with a talent show and a barbecue where your family and school advisors are invited. So, get ready for an amazing week of learning, growth, and fun at Vermont Teen Institute!

How Do I Participate in Vermont Teen Institute

If your school has a Vermont Teen Institute Chapter and advisor, you can participate by talking to your advisor at school and asking for an application. They'll be happy to help you out! If you're not sure who your advisor is, you can email us at vermontteeninstitute@fcccp.org and we'll help you find out. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to attend Vermont Teen Institute and learn important skills that will help you make a positive impact in your school and community. So don't be shy - talk to your advisor today and get started on your Vermont Teen Institute journey!

Don't have a Vermont Teen Institute Chapter or School Advisor at Your School?

No worries! You can still attend the program by finding a cool teacher or adult in your community who cares about making a difference. They can be your advisor and help you get other students excited to attend. We're here to support you and your advisor every step of the way. We can give you stuff to help you recruit other students, and we can also connect you with other students and advisors in your area who are interested in attending the program. So don't let the lack of a school advisor or chapter stop you from coming to Vermont Teen Institute! We'll help you make it happen.

My School Does Not Have an Application Process:

No problem.  You can apply here and we will reach out to your school and let them know that you have applied.  Either TI staff or Staff from your school will repond to your application.

What does it cost to Participate in Teen Institute:

The cost of attending Vermont Teen Institute is free for participants, thanks to the generous support of our funders. However, we do ask schools to raise $5000 annually to send up to six participants to the program to help offset the costs of the training. We want to make this opportunity available to as many students as possible, regardless of their financial situation. By attending Vermont Teen Institute, you're committing to participating in school activities throughout the year and working to share your knowledge and skills with your fellow students. You'll stay connected to Vermont Teen Institute staff throughout the year and be invited to special events hosted by the program. We're excited to have you as part of our community and can't wait to see the positive impact you'll make in your school and community!
